Molly E. Thompson

Partner

Molly has extensive litigation experience, with a focus on defending public entities, including municipalities, counties, school districts, and public officials, against claims under Section 1983, Title IX, various federal statutes and regulations, and state law torts. She has managed all aspects of complex, high-profile, and high-stakes tort and civil rights litigation, including thorough discovery and motion practice, jury trials, and appeals. Molly leverages her diverse experience to help clients anticipate challenges and achieve their goals.

She transitioned her practice to Burns Noland after working at two national law firms, where she handled a wide variety of civil litigation matters from trial court through appeal. Prior to law school, Molly was a paralegal in the Investigation Division of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, where she investigated economic crimes and prepared for trials in complex white-collar criminal cases.

Molly is also a dedicated advocate for pro bono legal services. Her pro bono work includes representing clients seeking asylum in the United States and advocating for a client in removal proceedings before the Seventh Circuit, which led to a reversal of the underlying judgment on an issue of first impression.
