Terrence M. Burns

Terrence M. Burns is a founding partner of Burns Noland LLP. He is a trial lawyer, who specializes in complex litigation, with more than 45 years of experience in all aspects of litigation including appeals in both state and federal courts. Terry has extensive experience in civil rights and Section 1983 matters defending governmental entities including governmental officials and police officers. Terry’s experience includes litigating election law matters. Terry also has decades of experience handling complex medical malpractice matters, representing healthcare institutions and healthcare professionals. Terry has handled significant civil and criminal investigations on behalf of corporations and individuals, in addition to handling numerous general litigation matters throughout his career.

Terry is a former Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney in the Felony Trial Division, a past president of the Chicago Bar Association, and has consistently been named to Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers lists. Terry served for 33 years as a member of the Illinois Attorney Disciplinary System. Terry is a member of Loyola University Chicago Council of Regents and serves on the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation Advisory Board.
